Resource Development Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY
The Resource Development Specialist works with the Chief Executive Officer and staff to develop programs and identify funding sources to maintain provision of services to clients in accordance with the NorCal Services for Deaf and Hard of Hearings’ stated purpose (to provide interpreting service, advocacy, peer counseling/communication assistance, information/referral, job development/placement, independent living skill instruction) in such a manner that optimum results are achieved in relation to the resources of the agency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Collect and analyze statistical data related to grant requirements.
2. Research and write grants including narratives, reports, and all material included in the grant requirements.
3. Attend information meetings related to community, state and federal grant programs.
4. Update DRI curriculum as needed.
5. Prepare organization for CARF accreditation review.
4. Other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.

EDUCATION
B.A. or B.S. degree in management or social service or closely allied fields; OR additional experience which has demonstrated that the applicant has acquired the abilities and successfully applied the principles and knowledge of grant writing may be substituted for the required education on a year-to-year basis.

CERTIFICATION OR LICENSES
None required..

QUALIFICATIONS
Five or more years in grant writing and program development, public relations and media development desired. Track record of success and ability to apply innovation required. Ideal candidate should have experience/comfort operating in a mission-driven, team-oriented environment. Prefer background knowledge of various laws and programs benefiting and protecting the rights of deaf persons, such as ADA, etc. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with deadlines, excellent interpersonal skills, capable of maintaining a cooperative relationship with co-employees, directors, employers and the CEO. SIGN LANGUAGE FLUENCY desired.
